Lost the spring for the j-rod assy, does anyone know if/where you can buy a generic spring for the j-rod assy in a console shifter? I found them on g-bodyparts.com for $10/pc (yikes) but would like to see 1st if anyone's had any luck going to a hardware or industrial supply store & buying something or a package of springs? I found some at Lowes today but they're too stiff, I'm afraid they'll break something in the shifter if I use them permanantly...any input appreciated...I may keep searching for the lost one in the meantime... :blam:

For those who are interested, Handi-Pack p/n 88104 is a spring almost identical to the OEM spring - it's 2 1/2" long, so it needed to be trimmed down a bit (it sags, there's almost no tension on the J-rod - if you can find something about 1 3/4", that would probably be ideal) - I took off about 3/4" between both sides & it works really well now - tension is good, it could probably have a little more taken off, but at 3/4" it puts enough tension on the J-rod & after adjusting the shifter piece at the top & applying new grease it shifts smoothly. I found this one at Menards, but don't know who else would have around the US...
