mine in the cutlass is broken right where the little retainer goes between it and the bracket on the trans, so i need a new cable. will any cable of the same length work in its place or do i have to get one vehicle specific? local yards will rape me on the price for one..

That always happens it will happen again too a few years after you get this one too so remember how you fixed it after you're through. But I was going to say use the 'search' function I think I already saw this topic covered before - I do remember it was said that you have to use the same cable yeah. Imagine using the brake line from another car would it work - technically but not very well so it will be unsafe bc it not accurate then..

i had searhced a few pages but the words shifter and cable were always separate.... thanks for the heads up. i did see some B&M cables on the oreillys website but apparently they wont work.

Have you checked if you can still get if from GM? Lokar is another option.
