I have seen someone put a B&M shifter into a Monte Caro, and it was built into the factory console. I was wondering if it can be done on a Cutlass, and exactly what shifter do I need?

Thanks for the help.

I fit a B&M Pro-Ratchet in my stock 78 Cutlass console without having to cut anything. The only thing I had to do was pop off the gear indicator plastic piece that was glued on underneath the left side of the console. A buddy made a piece of metal to go underneath for me that is painted black. That made it look cleaner and made it so there wasn't a big gap around the shifter.

the b&m mega shifter and hammer shifter have factory console models which should work just fine.

I have seen the factory console shifters for camaros and firebirds. Is that the one your talking about, and are you sure that will work?

So that bolts right up with no problems. The one I saw was a b&m megashifter. I was hoping I would be able to take of that base and it would fit into the factory console.

It fit in the console after I popped off the gear indicator plate for the stock shifter. I had to drill holes and mount it. I also added a plate that I painted black on top of the shifter under the console to keep some of the dust and dirt out.

wow looks good, and feels good to be back on the forum.
