How would one put some real beefy slicks on a G Body? (80 ss El Camino)
I'm running 275 60 r 15's now and I'm maxed against the inside of the frame. Is there some type of radical frame modification kit? Has anyone done this and what type of rear end did you use?
My tires are roughly 28 inches tall and about 10/11 inches wide.

alot of people do a frame notch. cut out about an inch of the frame and weld back together, then add some bracing on the back. also different affset rims will allow wider tires.

slicks

the best i can get in the wheel well with no cutting is a 28-11.50-15 with a section width of 11.1 mickey thompson e/t streets...not the raidal tire....

are you going to try to get traction for drag strip use? ....jesse

Traction is my goal. I just pulled my 10 bolt 7.5 and I'm in the process of putting in a GN 10" 8.5. I'm a set of bearing/seals and a sand blast away from being done. I realized real quick that an open diff. with street radials don't cut it at the strip 🙂 Long term I would love to get a shortened Rear with tubs, but again the frame won't allow me to do that.
