So i had a recently rebuilt 700r4 put in my car but i dont have the lockup wiring. Is this something i need? I drive about 20 mins a day at 60 to work. And the same back. Someone told me it would save the life of the trans and would drop a few rpm's..

Simple answer yes. The 700R4 lockup converters are designed to lockup. If they drive extended periods without locking up it will increase wear and tear on trans and eventually contribute to early failure.

Thanks. Know of any kits that are better than others?

You don't need a "kit". You just need some wire, a toggle switch, and a automotive relay you can buy at any parts store. Plus its cheaper.

I went with the Painless kit. I have also used a B&M kit and the simple switch method also. I liked the Painless kit because of it's simple install and it works seamlessly so I don't have to remember to Unlock the converter when stopping or downshifting.
