Finally got a good camera so I can start my build thread. Before I get started though, happened to get lucky at the sale at the local JY and ran across a torsen posi with 342 gears. Has the #500291 on it. Question is should I use the gears that are on it. They don't look to bad to me, just would like another opinion. I am waiting on 28 splined axels and the install kit. Now lets see if I can get the pics on here. DSC_0005.JPG DSC_0016.JPG DSC_0007.JPG DSC_0008.JPG

I would have used them in my build, I went with 4:10 gears from summit and am real happy except for the gas mileage, I'm getting about 10 miles to the gallon which just seems a touch inefficient.

Guess they should be a good street gear. Not building for the strip just for street use. But just don't know how many miles were on them, and how to tell if it is to much wear or not. Don't want to have to go back into the rear later.

Try to buy from them cause living in GA summit hits me with taxes which increases the cost of everything

They look fine to me. The edges are nice and crisp, and I still see grinding marks from when they were made. If you set them up yourself, take lots of pictures on the process, like V8 Ruble's doing on his 200-4R build. I'm an old noob and I have a setup from a 2000 Camaro I want to use.

I'll do that. It will be a first for me, but I think if I take my time with it I can do it.

Just lurnd this one. Startin at the pinion, If you take the shims off the pinion in your housing, (should be shims behind bearing) move them to the new one, 99% back in the rite spot. then shimming the carrier back in. Good Luck. My son loves these gears. Mileage seems easy, cause motor is not workin hard. I'm going with 3.23s.
