Hi. I'm from the corruption capital of the USA. Chicagoland. Lol. I'm an Olds guy A- Body guy, but I've always liked Malibu's and other G-bodies. I owned a 81 Bu and a Buick WE4 years ago, but I sold it. I told myself I would purchase another G-body, but the next one would be a 78-79. I found one 10 days ago and took in a 11 hour round trip to pick her up this past Friday. I was even more impressed when I saw it in person. It's pretty much stock except the Weld style wheels, and I plan to keep it that way, due to it's nice condition.
The engine is all mismatched. It has a Crane 260H10 cam 210/210 .440 .440. It has a tall procomp single plane intake, 193 TBI Heads, and 750 Holley carb. I used a bore scope, and I can't see a distinct stamping on the pistons. The pistons are dished, and may be cast aluminum. The cylinder bores looked okay from what I could see though. It's coupled with a TCI 350 Trans with a 3500 stall. It's an 880 block. I peeked in the valley and it does not have the roller lifters. Stock butt rear end 7.5 and unknown on the gears, but it feel like 4.10 or so. I had to get on it to get the car onto the car trailer  I decided I'm not even going to try to mess with the 350 in it right now. I plan to replace it with a 305 . I know, I know the 327 and 350 is the same cost, and the 305 is a waste of time and pathetic, but I'm looking to keep the Bu's engine year correct, but with a little bit more power to use it as a Spring/Summer daily driver. I have an Olds with tons of power to hot rod around with. Thanks for having me fellas.
