Hi all, ok so I got a 442 rally pac for my cuttlass, after finding out the first one i bought was not working, i bought another one, did the wiring according to http://tech.oldsgmail.com/eint_rallye_swap.php .

After i got the new one, everything works except the engine temp, it sweeps, when i turn the key to ignition, but when i start the car, it does not work, whats funny is it reads when i turn the ignition off and its at the first click, it slowly moves up. Im really confused and angry at this point. I am sure the wiring is good, as i brought it to a performance shop the first time, and i found out the rally pac i bought was broken, so i ordered a new one, which seems to be working except the dam engine temp.

The guy at the shop ordered the engine temp sensor for me, I am not sure where he got it, but i don't know if thats the problem. I went over the wiring again, i even took them out, and replaced the prong, with a new one, since the old one didnt hold in that good. Its really getting me mad, as i have everything working except the most important thing. Do you guys think it might be the sensor its self. I am confused that the guage sweeps, then reads when the car is off.

Do you think it might be the extra ground, I just hope its not the dam pac, but this one seems to be in great shape, and everything else is working...

the part number for the engine temp sensor on the write up above, does anyone know where to get that or something that might work...

I need a lot of help with this one. I am lost behind lost.

Did you use teflon tape on the threads of the sensor?
Sometimes that can cause the sensor to not get a good ground, resulting in the gauge working improperly or not at all.

the sensor, had that red dye on it, no Teflon tape...
