are skirt coated pistons worth the extra money or are they even going to help me at all? i can order hyperutectic pistond for around 80 bucks or for a extra 30 i can get them skirt coated.

yeah they are worth the money. the anti friction coating reduces rod/piston side angle drag coefficient quite a bit. you can get coated speed -pro forged units for like 200 bucks. plus no worries if your gonna put it on the squeeze then.

For $30, I would just go ahead and do it.

Its funny cause most people think thats paint on there!! IF your referring to the Speed Pros..that was a good idea on their part....

i personally do not like speed pro pistons. i prefer Keith Black pistons. on the circle track and in a few marine applications i have seen the wrist pins rip right out of the piston. the forged might be okay but stay away from speed pro hyperuetectics.

I don't think I would trust hypereutectic pistons..... Too many horror stories when they really started becoming popular. I will stick with my forged speed pros.

if i was building a race engine i would go forged. i have ran hypereutectic several times with no issues and they are still driven to this day. i have heard that speed pro and kb pistons come from the same place??

I use forgings in a street motor. Granted its more of a weekend strip car, but if I want to put the juice to it I know it can handle it.
