smuggler box subwoofer

i was looking at this at best buy the other day and it looks like it would easily fit in the smugglers box if it was laying down.

i was wondering if it would sound bad because of it pointed more to the top of the smugglers box than out of it.

I think the smugglers box actually enhances the sound. I have 2 12's pointed north powered by a 500 watt amp and the only downfall I think is when your standing outside by the box everything in the box rattles (which sounds bad) but cant be helped because lets face it - your pointing your subs at the bottom of the box.....It sounds superb inside the cab though.

i wasn't happy with 2 because I wasnt using all the equiptment I had, so I dubbed in 2 more with 500 more watts (and a cap) and put 2 behind the seat and 2 in the Mexican compartment. I must say it has some really nice bass response but now I realize I need some better full range to keep up, like a set of dome tweeters maybe (rattles your eyeballs out but the replacements I found for the dash are inadequate for making serious decibels.

That is a good place to put subs, but you really have to sound deaden the entire area with something like dynamat for truly good sound.

Those would fit. I have one 10" sub w/ Amp and 2 6x9" speakers in my storage space. They fit good, and it really makes it look clean. I am going to look into using some dynamat material to help improve the sound.

I used to have a truck box for 2 12" memphis woofers laying down and I had dynamatted the whole space, jeez it was loud.

DO NOT BUY THAT BOX! i been installing alot of sound over the years and sony xplod is some of the worst sound crap ever made, If anyone is old enough to remember I would rather put spark-o-matic speakers instead of those POS xplod...also try to get the biggest box you can possibly get, those slim boxes sound like they're playing underwater when a deep bass note comes along...so save the cash and get quality stuff you'll happier in the end.

I remember seeing the kraco in the local K-Mart for some reason you thought the police was going to put them in the evidence locker since you always saw that flashing blue light by them.
