As much as I loved the car, I sold it on ebay last week. I might regret it sometime in my life but right now it feels great. One less 'project' sitting around means I'm able to work on the Monte a little bit more. I bought an 86 Silverado short wide bed to take its place. Its nice being able to venture out in the snow, rain a parking lots w/o having to worry about the car. Plus I can actually haul things! So long Malibu!! Here's the ad and pics that were on ebay.

The new owner better damn well enjoy that car!

I feel your pain, or relief depending on how you look at it. I too am in the process of trading my el camino for some sbc parts that will go on my malibu. It's so hard letting go of something you spent lots of $$$ and time on. You know it just a car, but it means so much more sometimes.

I'm going to tell the new owner about the forums here and MR.com.

To me the Malibu was just another list of things to do, even though it was fine as-is. I had a hard time leaving it alone and finally decided I didn't need another money pit sitting in the garage so made the choice to sell it and get something I could actually use and wouldn't be so anal about.

The new owner is having it picked up sometime the following week... it sucks losing a fun car but it'll just allow me to tweak the Monte a little more, which I've been wanting to do for awhile now.

It sounds like the right decision. I have fought the multiple project battle myself, and all that ends up happening is you spend a lot of money and time to get nowhere. I am doing the same thing in a few months and ridding myself of my other project car. More space, time and money to dedicate to more important things.

i wish i were as smart as you, 84 regal that is a major project, 86 442 as a "quick" project (yea...right) 84 calais, 90 eldorado and a 85 riviera all as project. i wish had the heart to sell them! how much did you get out of the malibu?

sad to see the bu go but more money for monte upgrades!

Yep.. I'm going for quality over quantity. But I'm telling you, it feels great.. I didn't think I'd like selling it off, but now it's like a weight has been lifted. My wife was kinda upset, but I told here we can sit here and collect cars or we can enjoy them. She came around. I got $6300 for it.

Right on 78mali350!
