Not trying to be an ******* here, but man....please use periods to break the sentences up. Kinda hard to decipher whats happening.

Start with the basic stuff. Assuming you still have a side post battery, there's probably corrosion underneath the negative cable at the post. I've seen it a million times. if you pop it off and see a bunch of white powdery corrosion, wire brush it off and you should be good. If you have worn out cables or any green copper corrosion on the wires change them.

If it starts fine with a jump it's mosts likely a bad ground at the battery.

sorry about the periods. Heres the thang they are brand new battery cables. It did not start with a jump and my starter is now done lol. I thank i have somethang wired wrong on the alternator. I was wondering if some had i wiring diagram... lol for the help. When i put the big block in i had to rewire the whole thang. i was wondering where do u guys run the wire that run your heas lights at.

No need for apologies, it just helps us to help you.

Was the starter new or used? Any chance the solenoid could be bad? This is one of those things that's hard to figure out without seeing the car since it's been re-wired. Did you keep the fusible link at the solenoid or get rid of it? I'd get a voltmeter and start checking where you lose you're power when the ignition is on. At least that way you can narrow it down without playing guessing games and throwing money at it.

the guy that i got the car from wired it for a 350 rocket. I had to change everything. I am going to the junk yard Wednesday and getting wiring from the firewall out to the engine compartment and go from there. i got a feeling that the gut butchered it when he wired it. No there is no fuseable link on the solenoid. Yes i am going to get my voltmeter out and start checking i will tune back in and let u all know what i found out. Thanks g-body-vet for the help really thank you.

im surprised that the wiring got hacked up because my 350 rocket was plug and play even to the old v6 harness. he must have been a bit of a hackjob for that to happen

We will put it this way. I bought the car for 800 buck the 350 rocket had a rod knocking ok cool i got ta motor any way. it did not run so being a gear that i am i started to get it to run. I took the carb off and there was no carb gasket on it lol. so put a carb gasket on it,adjusted the timing. Any ways i got it to run and the rest speaks for its self about the guy lol.

first, run tests!!!!
make sure there's 12v at the battery, at the starter terminal, and at the alternator post. then see what happens when you try and start the car. make sure there's switched power at the purple wire for the starter, when you turn the key.
then get a repair manual for g-bodies and test the wiring.

yea i thank i don't have a 12 volt source to turn on the alternator for charging. sorry new at this wiring thing pops is stop buy Wednesday to look at it. i had to rewire the whole thing from the fire wall forward i really appreciate the help every 1 thank you very much. I will be running a test Wednesday to see what is going on with the car. it is running off the battery and not the alternator thanks every one again......
