hey everyone,
here's some action shots from July.

didn't run my best, but had fun and got some cool shots.

Buddy's 69 Cutlass, 455 4spd

Buddy's all original 71 Monte 327 he just picked up a few months ago, and brother's 71 Skylark all stock Buick 350 with 4bbl carb. Monte won by a hair.

sway bar, KYB shocks, upgraded springs, and it still holds the front up all the way past 60ft

TAKE THAT BIKE!

don't worry... the Bike did embarass me with a 11sec win. I only had him in the 1/8th, till he hit his revs

Launch shot, we tried to catch the tire curl on photo, but it only came thru on video.

Going again this weekend, stay tuned for more action.

Great Looking GP. I love the picks, they look sick

thanks! I have lots of photos of the GP, but none in action... so it's nice to finally have some racing shots.

nice pics and good looking GP
on the 71 monte, i dont think they had a 327 in them, im pretty sure the smallest engine available was a 350

I could be wrong then, and so could my friend... I remember him telling me it's a 327.

It'll run faster with a hood on it....LOL

Seriously though... Good job!!
Nothing like being able to go thrash your pride and joy every now and then. Keeps some of us sane but drives others insane.

my Hurrican intake is soo tall, I only have 1.5" of breathing space over my carb. Cap that with a aircleaner lid, and you're looking at 1" at most.
Running with the hood on, my motor falls on it's face at the top end. Carb doesn't breath... I also tried running open carb, but still not enough air flow under the hood.
I picked up two 10ths with no hood... a 10th from better breathing, and a 10th from the weight reduction.

100mph feels still under the wall of aerodynamic drag. So I think I get by

And surprisingly, I also tried open exhaust, and it didn't make as big a difference as open hood... Only gained a 10th from open exhaust.

... hoping I can "borrow" my buddy's scoop again this weekend

Hey... I was really just kiddin with ya on the "no hood" comment.
And while you're at it.... may as well paint it orange and put an 01 on the side of it too...
I was really just busting your balls man... All in good fun of course.
Breathing can be a serious issue with a tall intake and flat hood on these cars but I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that the weight of your hood didn't cause you to pick up a tenth dude.
Keep having fun.... That's what it's all about.
In fact... as soon as I get off the crapper and this laptop....(yes really) LMAO
I'm getting loaded up and headed to the track today myself.

Chris, sorry if I came across rudely... I knew you were kidding, and I didn't mean any offense in what I said.
... I said it in a sense of discussion.

I've started to race this car more and more, and I'm learning as I go. I try to make one change at a time, so I can track my progress... But it's hard sometimes because the weather up here is unpredictable and can often make big effects to how the car runs.

One day the car can run low 13s, other days it'll struggle with high 13s. I've raced with the hood on, and off, and I generally do better with it off. But you're right, I don't think the weight of the hood matters as much...

I went to the track again yesterday, and I kept the hood on. I did a few runs, and it felt like motor was choking for air. So instead of takin off the hood, I tried running with no airfilter, and the times improved.
I ran the same times as with the hood off.

I know you're running a tall intake, and if you have any good tips for getting air to the carb...
