the rod that opens the door via the outside door handle had got knocked off, so i had to take the door panel off. behind the door panel was in mint shape pretty much, the sound deadning material was still in good shape as was the moisture seal behind it. i was carefull removing it and my question is what kind of adhesive do i use to re attach it? it looked like its some kind of adhesive caulking....I seen the new ones for $60 a set on gbodyparts.com. is there a better material to use besides the factory one? what is is made of? it looks like cardboard material or something

The plastic is to prevent wind from seeping through the door panel, especially through the hole for the interior handle. Is that foam rubber seal still there?
Just use some duct tape or masking tape to reattach it where the original sealer will no longer hold.
