have a GN on driver side have yellow and brown wire and on passenger have light and dark blue wires......wonder which wire goes to the small prong on my new speakers and which goes to the bigger prong or does it not matter. is it a positive and ground? I am clueless when it comes to audio stuff. I really dont wanna run new wire to the front.

On my Monte the left side is a solid Grey wire and a Brown wire with a Grey stripe, the Brown striped wire is the negative. On the right side there is a solid Green wire and light Green striped wire, the light Green wire with the stripe is the negative.

It stands to reason that if you have a wire with a stripe it is your negative, if not, more than likely it is is the lighter colored wire that's the negative.

At least no damage will become of having the polarity on the speakers reversed, it can only effect sound quality, so trial and error is not risky.

if you have the factory radio the light colors (Yellow and Light Blue) go to the small terminal which should be negative.

I've seen some striped wires that are actually the positive...

Now with that said, a speaker is actually just a coil and really has no positive or negative UNLESS the speaker also has a built in filter. If the speaker does have a built in filter then it's VERY important to connect it correctly...
