Speedo cable

Does anyone know if the speedo cable from a 85 SS work on a 79 malibu speedo.I ask this because I'm using my 2004R in the malibu and I want to purchase the cable so I thinking if it fits then I will order one for a 85 Monte SS.

It should fit. I would suggest checking out RockAuto and cross reference a '79 Malibu and '85 Monte Carlo SS to see if they both use the same cable part #. It's the length that should concern you.
