My speedometer is off by like 10mph. If I am doing 50mph I am really going 60mph.

How do I fix this?

you need to have it re calabrated the easy way to do this is to call summit and tell them what transmission, gear, and tire size and they can give you the right gear for the cable where it goes in to the transmission

You can verify what you're off by comparing your odometer miles driven against the mile signs on the freeway.

Speedo shop should be able to take care of it easy or at least diagnose it and verify calibration if you fix it yourself.

Think of it this way,,,,your mileage will show less than what it really is on the odometer.... 😀 My car is also off by 15 or so mph,...tire changes from 14" to 15", transmission change, and rear end change all contributes to this factor. My speedometer only goes up to 80mph anyways! So i've learned to live with it.

Drive down the highway for 10 miles at what the speedo reads as 60 mph.
Have your passenger record your odometer reading at every mile marker.
Tell this info to your speedo shop of choice.

If you buy like an autometer guage, how do you calibrate that to fit your setup?

You can also go 60mph down the highway and watch the mile markers. If you hit 10 miles at 10 minutes, your speedo is fine. If you hit 10 miles in 8 minutes it's off by 15mph.

Pretty much just take the distance you wanted to travel (10 miles) and divide it by the time it took you (10 minutes) and then multiply that by 60 to find how fast you were going.

...or, you could just look at the odometer, but I find the mile marker way a lot more accurate than an old odometer. 😀

Just an FYI. If you take it to a transmission shop to get then to calibrate it. You'll be looking at about a $200 bill. I just had mine done. And it's total bs because I had it done to another car 5 years ago and only paid $35.
