I have 88 cutlass that I'm planning to install a 455 with a 4speed standard behind it ... but when it comes to the rear end I want dependable highway gears and I want to know can I just use a spool in my stock 2 point series ratio gear rear end to hold up behind my engine ... not for racing but to drive it like i stole it sometimes... and for a bi-daily driver so would a spool help or hurt me?

Hurt. I have a spool but not a daily driver. Like gbody scuttle said, posi. But you may have to increase you spline count on your axles if your going to beat it often.
