This is not going on with a gbody, it is a 99 intrepid I believe. Everytime you go around corners the tires squeal like you are doin 60mph around corners. The only things that I can come up with right now is that the squealing will start and stop as the car bounces up and down because the struts are shot. The car does go pretty straight down the road with no pulling. My question is that will the bad struts be the only thing that will cause the squealing or will an out of whack alignment also contribute to the problem with the struts?

Thanks for the help.

Alignment is possible, if it is really off it could affect it. But you'd have massive tire wear. Are the tires all cupped on the outside?

I am pretty sure they were at one time. This is a friends car that I am doing work on. I think she has got new tires on it with out the alignment. I know it did not squeal that bad before she got new tires. I am assuming there is not as much of a contact patch with the newer tires because of the alignment. :? :?

double check the tire pressure, i usually set it to the car's owners manual spec or 5psi under max (according to the tire)
how fast are you going through the turns, and what tires do you have?

tires

just a thought, maybe the tires are to big and are rubbing in the turns  just a thought...jesse

Yeah, I would try turning the tires all the way and see if it could be rubbing anything. Just a thought though. 😀

I know its not the tire size. I couldnt remember what speed it started but it was really early on in the turn, probably around 15-20 mph. I have not checked the tire pressure but I have a feeling since this is a chick that drives this car, the tire pressure is probably never checked so it is most likely normal or low. You have to remember that she has me do her brakes when they are grinding or locked up, so that pretty much tells you that all she does is drive the car.

Worn struts and shocks will cause excessive body roll which unloads the inside tire when turning changing the camber angle causing the tire to only run on the inside edge of tread......causing squeeling.....I would start there but thats easy to say cuz its not my money being spent......Lorne
