i have a 83 cutlass that i put a 350 Chevy motor in.i went with a after market mini starter.i rerouted some wires wires over to the starter.i have the battery cable and two other wires that went to the bigger terminal and the smaller wire that also went to the stock starter.i have them all hooked up to the terminals but the starter does not turn over.i have power to the starter and my lights work and also have power to the back of the altenator.i have the car in park but when i turn the key nothing not even a click or anything.have i missed something.

make sure you have power on the signal wire to the starter, and if you have power rig a jumper and put power to the starter to make sure it activates. or go the other way. 🙂
if you don't have power at the wire you'll need to back trace the wiring.

that would be the smaller wire on the terminal by itself.i should have power there if i turn the key on correct

ok no power to the relay wire, what can it be just a fuse or something else.the starter bumps over when i jump it.

Ok, you should have the big power wire, and two red wires to the big terminal. and you should have a purple wire to the solenoid

time to start back tracing. IDK offhand if there's a fuse, but most cars that have one have it on the ignition system.

well i found the problem.awhile back i cut a wire that came from the outside of the fire wall which fed a plug and some wires to the a/c compressor and it went to the alternator.come to find out it back fed to one side of the fuse block.spliced it back together and i have power once again.thanks for all the info it always comes in handy.
