Hello folks, im attempting to put my Steadfast Column Collar on my 86 Olds Cutlass Supreme car and im running into an issue that im not sure has been covered here before. I have the correct Part # SGT0503........the right side column piece that fits over the ignition cylinder area requires me to replace the chrome stock cylinder cap, the piece that you actually turn with your hand, and install the correct adapter clutch cap. The problem is i dont see how to remove my stock cylinder cap and it doesnt look it easily prys off like the instructions say to do so. Has anybody had any experience with installing a steadfast security collar on their car and know the issue that im referring to? Please reply if you can be of any help. Thanks, John

I did mine last year, and the cover cap popped right off. It was attached with four tabs that were staked to the cylinder.
I had more trouble getting the two halfs of the shell to pull together . I found that a couple of pairs of needle nose vice grips helps alot.

So you popped the chrome cap off while the ignition cylinder was still attached to the column? My ignition is new and not the original ignition that was in the car when the car was new. I replaced it because the original ignition had too much rotational slop in it from being used over and over. I replaced it with a original AC Delco ignition for my 86 Olds Cutlass Supreme, so i cant imagine its any different than yours and you say yours popped right off huh? Any other people have similar experience of it popping right off OR being difficult to get off as in my case?

It's just a lock cylinder, ( if you have replaced it with a newer cylinder) It will look like one of the ones in the diagrams chart 5.4... in the Steadfast PDF file on their web site. The actual Ignition Switch is at the bottom of the column.
