Looking to find Claret/Oxblood in an aerosol spray can to shoot my steering column once I pull it and prep it. Found this company not much info on em.

Pretty pricey for a 12oz can. But if it's good quality and close to the color I need, I'll pop on it and the clear.
I have SEM interior paint that is burgandy but it's for plastics and fabric (used it on my RC car replica). So will not use that on the column.

Where else should I look before I start spending money lol. I have no problem spending it, as long as its quality paint and a good color match.

The rotating collar right below the bowl is plastic on tilt columns, in case you're wondering.

You really need to look for year-specific colors to ensure the closest match to your shade.

The closest you probably will find is having a paint shop mix you up some.

You'd be looking for 1985 General Motors code 79.

SEM has a color 15063. I don't know if it's dark enough, though.

Even gbodyparts.com has a color that some users claim it's an excellent match, 15091.

PPG shows a semi-gloss formula, 51170, but not sure it's available any longer. I can't find it, maybe someone else can. It's 79CN on the chart shown below. UCV 2-479, whatever that is. It also has a note that dash panel parts must be sprayed with UCV-69 low gloss clear to flatten the semi-gloss.

The column is a low-gloss or semi-gloss if you wanted factory type finish. Unless you don't care if it's glossy or not. Up to you.

Old Ditzler Number: Semi-gloss: 50994 Low-gloss: 50996
Dupont #: Semi-gloss.: 44265 Low-gloss: C8019

The "WA" number is:
W12A4887 Semi-gloss W5A4887 flat (paint reference website calls it "purple")

It's important to have the 12 or 5 between that W and A. That signifies the gloss level. WA4887 will net you exterior paint.

Kirban Performance has an 11 oz. custom mix spray that a couple of people swear by. Not sure of the gloss level. Not cheap, but paint isn't anymore.

The factory paint on the columns were lacquer in a low gloss to reduce reflectivity. PPG still makes the interior color in the One Choice line using the five digit code & can be sprayed on hard plastics & metals along with soft plastics, vinyl & some cloths. the UCV codes have been long discontinued. PPG for a quart can rune about $70 depending on the shop. Not sure if SEM can have their mix formula put into a can but should be able to mix in pints & quarts Checking chips in my PPG books & the SEM chip sheet for the "universal" spray cans I notice a variation as the SEM has a slight browner hue than the PPG claret chips for '85 & '86 which has a more purple hue.

Now here is the PPG & SEM codes I have for code 79. I don't have the WA codes in my color books.
PPG is for 79CN is 51170 for semi gloss ('85-'88) & 51085 for low gloss ('86-'88). The One Choice is a ready to spray formula that just needs the proper prep work. You'll be able to get it in a pint like the other PPG lines. You may need to ensure you find a knowledgeable counter person as not all in the paint stores know about this line.
SEM for 79 (also 79CN on the master list) is 4087. For this one I do have the formula listing mixing tints & amounts in grams for pint & quart. My one sheet suggest clearing with SEM 1302 to match the low gloss the dash should be.

This fall I did the manual transmission column for Jr.'s '79 with the SEM camel spray can as it was a very good match. All it did was clean, sand, prime & spray. I do have a quart each of the two listed shades of camel in PPG. I did kinda mixed in SEM & PPG prep products but make sure you have all the need prep materials to ensure a good long lasting quality finish. Keep in mind that when new not all the materials matched as each was a different shade.

When I did the interior in my 86' Regal I painted the steering column, the Grant steering wheel and my center console with Gbodyparts paint on Ebay
1591 Burgundy is what I used and worked well.

SEM works fine on metal. It is just flexible so it doesn't crack on something that bends, like door panels. My color was Regal Blue which was discontinued. I found a case lot online from an auto body supply store in Ohio. It was a perfect match to my interior. The swap meet found tilt column was burgundy but I painted it Regal Blue and you would never know it. In this pic the red console and column have been painted with SEM, the dash is stock.
