i installed a new stereo deck in my el camino a couple months back, when i got the car all the wires were cut in the and the stock stereo harness was also missing. i found the power cable nd ground. i couldnt find a cable for current power (to save the radios memory) so i mickey moused it and ran it straight to the battery. is there anywhere i can connect it in the fuse box to keep my radio stations saved? also is there a hole or do i have to make a hole in the firewall to run 4 gauge cable thru to the battery? if so where is it or where is it best to make it? sorry if it confuses you, ive been up since 3am working and im a little tired. any help would be great. thanks!

Tap into the power wire to the cigarette lighter to keep your radio stations. Just curious why you wanna hook up a wire to the battery? Just run a wire with a in-line fuse and male end to the fuse box and hook it up to the battery plug there...

oh its cus im running my amp power cable also but its 4 gauge nd i couldnt running it thru the side of my door into my fender like the 8 gauge wire i had before.s now i got to find a hole thru the firewall.

You're gonna have to make your own hole in the firewall. Certified MECP Installer. It's much easier to go from the inside to the outside. Drill bit is fine, air hammer is much better. Feel free to send me any other question you might have. I'm getting so much info on here I would be more than happy to give some back.
