In good with cars but no mechanic so I need alto of advice! I have a completely stock 81 regal with a 3.8 and 70,000 miles and in thinking of buying a 383 chrysler big block for it and in wanting to know how much work is entailed. Like rear end, transmission, wiring, etc. Please any help is appreciated!

Well my first question would be why would you put a Chrysler engine in a Gbody when GM has so many offerings that will actually bolt in the chassis and make more than enough power for your needs.
Being good with cars probably won't help much unless you are also a very good fabricator, I would imagine everything involved in installing this engine is going to require custom parts.

It would cost less money to buy a 350 chev block and have it machined than it will cost running around trying to fabricate engine mounts and getting all the accesories to fit / and what about transmissions. I doubt you could make it work out for you and the aftermarket support just isn't geared in your favor of what you're proposing to do. If you have your own shop anything is possible, but if you were going to rely on other people's support it's a really bad swap idea then. Shop time will cost you hundreds of more dollars adding up to thousands spent more than just staying gm - all to arrive at the same ammount of horsepower most likely, or comparable at least

....this seems interesting, you would literally need to change every component of the driveline, fuel delivery, and wiring. honestly, you're best off sticking with the V6, or get a turbo v6 from a GN. Or do what I'm dong and put in a Buick v8. All these options are MUCH simpler, and less time and money consuming. If you're heart is set on it, more power too you, but you'd pretty much be in the dark on this one.

"Will it fit?" Yes, with enough time, money, torching, welding, hammering, drilling, cutting, and frustration, pretty much anything will fit. It'd be an interesting project, but like everyone has already said, there are shorter and simpler paths to getting power to the wheels.

I am sure that the OP googled 383 and came up with the Mopar Engine in error.

Much the same as the guys in high school would say the 5.0 mustang was faster than the 5.0 Camaro because the mustang was lighter LOLOL

Well if that is the case and the OP does not know the difference then I think a guy that does really want to install a BB Chrysler will probably have less issues.
