Straight pipe or mufflers?

My 86 cutlass with a built 403 sounds ok with the mufflers. Would it sound better if I took them off? Or would it be to loud?

If you are looking for a different sound then try a another style or brand muffler but there is no reason to not run mufflers.

Straight pipes would be way to loud in my opinion plus will draw attention from the police. What type of mufflers do you currently have?

Plus straight pipes crack at WOT and deceleration.

My opinion is if its not a race engine, it doesn't sound good without mufflers. Not enough compression and cam makes it sound shallow and raspy.

I prefer mufflers any day. I like it loud when hard on the gas but while cruising I like it quieter so I can hear what others are saying in the car.

Not sure what's on it for mufflers. Not a race engine. But wasn't sure if it would sound more bad *ss with them taken out. It has a nice low rumble to it as it is. Just thought I would ask what would be better or what other people use

FYI, if you need a 2.5" exhaust for your power level (sub-500hp) get the 3" version because they flow like a 2.5" muffler due to the restriction cause by the louvers. I run the 3" Pypes Violator mufflers on my wagon and put cut outs in place to overcome this issue - same principle.

The vettes sound pretty good in those videos. I will try and post a video of my car. It Sounds alright, but I like the more aggressive sound
