Hey, I've noticed issues with starting my car. Seems the choke sticks open just enough that it sucks in too much air & messes up my mixture, so without blocking the choke 'til it starts or pumping the snot out of the gas to try to equalize the mixture, it doesn't like to fire up.

Is it carburetor rebuild time? Or do you know of any quick fixes?

Thanks!

My wagon has been doing that in this heat we've been having lately as well...

I've just been popping the hood quick and setting my cell phone on top of the choke plate to hold it long enough to start.

Adjusting the choke is pretty simple, though if it's never been tinkered with you'll have to drill out the rivets and replace them with some small screws. Then you can dial the choke in to co-respond with the outside temp.

Rochester? Try squirting some carb cleaner at the linkage on the choke side of the carb. Most important is the green arm that must drop to set the fast idle and close the butterfly. Dirt gums it up and it sticks.

Ok, thanks. I'll try those things.
