Well like the title states. My dumb @$$ forgot to fill the tc when i put the trans in... i cant beleive i forgot it. Noticed it when i went to bolt the tc to the flexplate. (thats the last thing i do on the install) anywho. Heres my question. This is a brand new dry trans and converter. Can i add fluid to the trans and idle it in park and let the tc fill that way? Really dont feel like pulling it back out. But i will if i cant do this lol. Trans is a 200 4r car is an 87 olds 442

yep, that's fine
the converter will fill right away, then check your fluid after warms up before you start driving on it

yah just let her warm up a little bit. let the tires roll a little on the stands and check it before you drive her.

As said,no harm, no foul...I worked at a transmission shop and we never filled the converter. Put about 5 quarts , then start it and fill it up. Test run on stands and went from there...Tim

I just filled it up with 4 quarts. Waited a while, put 4 more in. Waited some more. Put one more in. Then started it on jack stands. Idled it for about 5 min. Shut it off. Lowered it put 2 more quarts in. Then another. 12 total. I think its a hair too much. Ran it for about 25 min. Moved it through the gears. Drove it forward a foot and back a foot. (Its snowing out im not about to drive it lol) checked it and it was right at the top of the hot mark. So doubt it was really hot-hot. So ill have to suck some out in spring. But it moves

Actually, not positive , but 12 quarts sounds about right. Drive and check it before you do anything. Draining an auto trans. Is never fun...tim
