hi, im new to the forum. i just picked up an 86 cutlass and need a hood and trunk lid. i dont know much ( anything really ) bout the g bodys yet, but i am curious to learn and my first question is whether or not a regal or monte hood or trunk lid will fit a cutlass' ? same with a grill and tail/head lights?
again this may be a stupid question, but i wont know til i ask.

thanks, nails

with a cutlass use cutlass parts. AFAIK the sheet metal does not interchange very well, only the chassis and mechanical stuff interchanges.

you CAN use a different front end on your car but wont match up very well without making it blend into the line already in the sheet metal on the car.

its not hard to find a trunk lid and hood for a cutlass. especially for an 86.

Assuming you have a 2-door here...

Hoods and trunk lids from any 2-dr Cutlass from '81-'88 will work.
Trunk lids on these Cutlass' are notorious for rusting along the bottom edge and lip. Hoods also like to rust along the front edge.
Inspect everthing carefully before you buy.

'81-'87 2-dr Buick Regals use the same doors as the '81-'88 Cutlass.

That's all you get for interchangeablity as far as sheet metal goes.

thank you both for the response to my questions.

after hitting the junk yards today, i took your advice and inspected the corners and such for rot rust and i did have trouble finding one without some minor paint bubbles whcih would of course be bad news in some time to come. i did find a trunk lid whcih looks mint , just gotta shoot some paint on it, and i think im just gonna go and buy a fiberglass cowl hood.

so if i found a descent regal front clip, i should be able to make it work with a little grinding welding and bondo? doesnt seem worth while lol
