My dad has a 1984 buick t type that we ended up putting a buick 455 in it. But about a month and a half ago we bought another 84 that is a light blue with t tops and the original 3.8 with a brand new turbo. The New buick has an open differential in it. Did they make t types with them? Or is this something someone put in?

Yes they came with open diff. My 85 TType had open 8.5. 84-85 was an option for posi. I believe 86-87 was pretty standard for posi.

Posi was always an option, never standard equipment...

g80 was an option until very late in the 87 production year when the Grand National became its own model. Option throughout 84-86

Like said above, it was always an option on T-Types but std on the GN in late 87. I know someone local with 2 86 GN's that must have come from the south. Both are open rears and both have no rear window defroster.
