Took the instrument cluster out, now some of the gauges aren't working. Fuel gauge is off the charts to the right of Full for example. Tach not working....

Ugh

Take it out again and try re-seating it. Make sure all the contacts in the back of the cluster and on the dash are in tact and in place making contact. Also make sure it is in there nice and tight. I had the same problem - and it affected both the tach and fuel gauge. It took a few tries to get it right. The key was making sure everything is fastened down nice and tight.

Do you have aftermarket gauges>?

is your tach wire installed in the distriburator correctly? i would ck that first..

check to see if the wire bus terminal behind the cluster didnt pull out a terminal...

Factory 442 gauges. Ill triple check the conenction at the distributor; back of cluster is normal and everything in tact.

Ya sometimes the are loose and need a new connector, or sometime not even pressed in all the way getting connection...thats what happened to my buddies tach on his 71 chevelle, but his wire was too long and burned on a header!!   he fixed it and tach worked again..

Is the car a 442, or is this a cluster swap?
