Tachometer

I have a 1983 cutlass calasis with a factory tachometer. The tach works fine but when I cut on the the park or headlights it stops working any ideas. Thanks Shanezoid.

Its possible the power lead is hooked up to the wire for the lights. You'll need to get to it with a multi tool and see whats going on.

Are you talking about the power wire on the plug that the cluster plugs into or the printed circuit on the cluster.

I have that same problem, the contacts on the back of the cluster need to be readjusted and secured.

found this site for tach fix when rpm reads to high. basically it seems to me no matter what ya do your gonna have to take it apart. check and clean all connections to all gauges, midas well change ALL the bulbs, then do this tach fix.........and I bet ya never have another problem

Bad grounds make electronics do funny things. Clean up the connections & see if that fixes things.

I have already soldered the junper into place but I am going the check the connections this weekend. Thanks for the suggestions. Shanezoid.

I found a small tear in the riibbon on the cluster and repaired it and the tach works fine now I will take a pic and post it so all can see. Thanks Shanezoid.
