wild , I pulled on my 🔑 and it came
out of the ignition!

Now is this a feature in 1979 Malibu coupe classic? Or a Mal Function? Dez

Your key and or lock cylinder are worn out. You can try having a new key cut. If that doesn't work you will need to replace the lock cylinder.

Due to age... i say replace both key and lock cylinder, just so you wont have to worry about either for the next 40+ yrs.
