Hey friends, Go a simple question for yas. My 86 TH 350 has a stock pan but has the trans
fluid cooler plumbed all the way to the front of the Radiator. It's a 5 pass cooler with 3/8" lines.

So how do I know if my level is correct? With the added fluid will the dip stick still read the same
as the stock fluid level without the cooler.? A check with engine and trans hot it barely shows on the stick.

Does A rule of thumb apply here.

You want the level to be the same as stock. There may be more fluid in the system, but since you are checking the level when the engine and transmission are warm and while the engine is running, the level should be the same as stock.

So does it mater if the trans fluid cooler is mounted higher than the transmission pan itself.
When these are added into the fluid stream of the transmission is there any bleeding required
or will any air work it's way out of the system over time ?

You can mount it higher or lower than the trans pan and will be fine. All air will work it's way out of the hydraulic circuits over time. Don't bypass the trans cooler in the radiator. That cooler will cool better than an auxiliary cooler by itself.

No mine is linked to run through both of them. I'm going to do a fluid level check on it tomorrow
and see where it sits.

Just check it like you would before installing the cooler. The dipstick will be showing what's in the pan. Start up the engine, run trans through the gears and check fluid with it in park with the engine running. Add fluid until you get near the top of the "cold" range on the dipstick.
