Quick question ?

Was it a special package , or just the late 87 - 88 442 thing for having a 120 MPH speedo . I see a few in them . I got a NOS one years ago hiding around here somewhere .

Would like to know . Or is it hit and miss like the aluminum hoods. Will help when looking in Classifieds .

I'm going to look at a 83-84 cutlass I know of sitting has one someone put in at 1 time. Trying to buy for parts

Federal law was changed in 1986 to allow the higher top speed of 120 rather than the old limit of 85 in speedo's. This is why you only see the 120 speedo's in the 87 and 88 rally packs for cutlasses.

Incorrect.

The 120 MPH speedometer is '87 442 ONLY!

The 85 MPH speedo's weren't a matter of limiting speed, I'm sure everyone here has maxed one out and kept accelerating.
It was because at the time, there was a nation-wide federal speed limit of 55 mph.
There was no point of making the speedo's read higher than 85...

Remote passengers side mirrors are junk and a waste of time, heck the drivers side barely works right and when you add a couple of feet of additional cable to them the mirror barely moves at all...
Got rid of mine on the 84 Hurst...

Police package vehicles came with the 200kph 120mph speed-o too. Not too common for a G Body to be a police vehicle, but I've seen one so there must be more.

I didn't mean to sound as if the car's top speed was limited. My old Mercury Lynx could pin 85 MPH. And I have certainly seen a 120 speedo in an 88. It was around 1994, so I suppose it could have been changed...
