so I'm putting a 2004r trans in my cutlass and i keep buying all these parts and wiring kits so that ill be able to put the trans in...... then i goto jets.com this morning and search for this part http://www.jegs.com/i/TCI/890/370812/10002/-1 why does a damn cable and a few brackets cost damn near 325$

That's a total rip-off! You don't need that particular bracket setup, what carb do you have? I just installed a 2004R also but it came with the cable and I just had to buy a bracket and geometry corrector for my Edelbrock carb.
