I'm building another sbc for my Monte, a little more mild and streetable combo, and with EFI.

I really don't like the look of natural aluminum heads, so I've been debating just painting them the same color I paint the block.

It's just not the look under the hood that I'm going for.

What are your guys thoughts and experiences?

Twice now I have built my big block with aluminum heads.
Both times I painted them the same colour as the block.
I was going more for a sleeper look and didnt want the aluminum finish giving me away.

I did the same with my car. I painted the heads the same color to keep it stock looking.

I decided the aluminum matched better than the paint would. Still a total sleeper though.

I appreciate your input guys. I've painted what seems like hundreds of intakes but never a set of aluminum heads.

I was just more worried about paint longevity on them vs iron heads. But from your input and other sources it seems like a non issue.

I'm trying to make myself step outside the box and paint this motor a color other than black, orange, or blue.

We will see if I can do it. Hahaha. Either way it's only paint, so if my OCD can't handle it, I can fall back on the usual colors.

You didn't do any special prep other than a degrease?

What paint did you use? I'm a huge fan of duplicolor low gloss black

Both times I used POR 15 and followed the directions.

I chose to paint my intake but left heads aluminum this time
I usually paint them though

Paint the motor to match the car or something on the exterior like pinstripes if you have that on your car
