three piece oil ring installation help.

ok so im putting the piston rings and pistons together .
and on the instructions it says "place the spacer -expander in the oil ring groove of the piston with gap ends butted."
my question is - by butted do they mean just touchin ends or do you interlock the ring ?

Just touching, no overlapping.

^ Yes, just touching. And make absolutely sure all 3 rings have the end openings in different places, otherwise you will be building an engine that burns oil insanely bad.

ok thanks i thought just touching..too just wasnt sure....and yeah all th rings are facing the right way
