Hi all! I found this place hunting for parts for my 1986 Pontiac Grand Prix. Two tone blue/silver with T-tops and bucket seats and the 3.8 V6. 200K + miles on it. Original paint, engine, trans.....a survivor car. It's a rough car but is even rougher now since this past Sunday when my 17 year old slammed the right side of it into a guard rail "trying to miss a rabbit". I have been buying parts for this car for years and have all the body seals, carpet, mats, seats, seat covers and now I am wondering how much damage was really done to the car and if it is worth spending thousands on body repairs to justify all the parts waiting to go in it. Grrrrrrrrrrr! The car has sentimental value as well. The car belonged to my best friend before he gave it to me for the payoff in 1989 (He killed himself in 2000). My wife and I dated in the car in 1991 and it was our primary family car until 1999 when it became a backup to a Tahoe due to our 3 kid family (which became 4 kids and a Suburban in 2002). So the GP has been patiently waiting for kids to leave home and money to become available to do a preservation/restoration on it. Along comes my third kid and he throws a monkey wrench in the mix by wrecking it. I still have to get the car to a body shop to have it looked at and be sure no frame damage was done. It still drives and runs like it used to so I am hoping we can just get it straightened out and continue with our plans. My boy feels pretty bad about it and wants to fix it. So I may be back in here asking about some parts. It is going to need the fiberglass nose piece for sure and the piece between the quarter and tail light and a tail light. Possibly the quarter cuz it is folded in about the depth of a guardrail LOL. Front fender seems fixable. I'll let ya'll know when I do. Wish me luck getting her back to her former glory. Thanks for looking.

This guy has a bunch of G bodies that he will be crushing come spring time. I was there in October and he had at least 10 Grand Prix cars in the yard with good sheet metal. Not sure if it's convenient for you but here's the contact info.

I appreciate the info. Thats a bit of a haul toward the north, but there is always shipping or a road trip in the Suburban if he has what I need and I can't get it elsewhere. I was in the process of updating my profile with location, avatar and such when you posted. I am in the Charlotte NC area.

t's still a ride here but a lot closer than that. I have a local yard that has three that are indecent shape. (not wrecked) I'll have to check the years if you get interested. The doors on one have minor rust in the inside bottom. That part is available new. The noses are not broken. I also understand the Gbodyparts.com has a yard full of parts cars. He is about 20 miles from me.

Welcome to the Mix.

Sorry to hear about the accident... but it sounds like its a great Poncho project!

I'd make the trek if I were you... A/G-Body parts are becoming scarce and Grand Prix's are nearing the top for scarcity... I'd say the Olds Cutlass fastback (2 & 4 door hatchbacks), Pontiac Grand Am, & Pontiac Lemans are the top 3 contenders in order of scarcity..IMHO.
The Grand Prix's are not very far behind and GPs with bucket seats, Ttops, & center consoles are damn hard to find now. I haven't seen any '78-87 Grand Prixs in any of the boneyards in about 3 years now. (South-Western/Central New England

I appreciate the local info for sure!! I'll be putting together a list of parts soon once I talk with a body guy. You guys rock!

I never see GP T-top cars anymore. I always have people offering to buy mine. NFS!

I'm sure they do... I rarely see them and the last LJ Ttop car I came across was sold within days of going on CraigsList

One of these is a console T top car but the console is rotten. I gave thought to t top transplant on my car but the one in the yard has rust in the top. It has a nice set of glass tops and even the bags for them.

post pics kinda sounds like the color scheme on my GP! 😀 ... And mine also has a damaged quarter panel from my friends mom backing into it!!.. Got it repaired years ago But nowhere near looking "correct" most people can't tell but I can..

My console is also rotten. The sun made the plastic brittle and it is falling apart. I was going to take it out and fiberglass it then cover it with vinyl and carpet. The plastic covers on my T-tops that the handles go thru are cracked too. What condition are those tops in at that yard?

Looked at the car again a little closer yesterday after work (after having a few days to calm down and let the initial shock wear off) and it will need the front bumper, nose piece, headlight assemply and trim, marker light assembly on front passenger fender, passenger tail light assembly with trim, filler panel between passenger quarter and tail light. Still hoping the quarter can be straightened out. Once I talk to a body guy I'll get everything I need together.

I'll see if I can get some pics of the car and get them posted this evening.
