SBC stock pulley system. Water pump, alternator, crank and ps pulley. 1belt is on the crank pulley and the ps pulley. The other is on the crank pulley, w.pump pulley and alternator.

How do I make my power steering belt tighter? Its loose as of now. Im in the process of breaking in one of my motors and the damn thing is squeeling. I cant take it.

The best way that I've found, is to loosen the appropriate nuts/bolts, to allow the pump to move so that the belt can be tightened, then I've got a special tool that looks like a hook with a square 1/2" drive hole in the side of the tool. You hook the tool on the bracket at the side of the power steering pump, then insert a 1/2" drive ratchet or johnson bar, and pry on the pump bracket to tighten the belt, then tighten the nuts & bolts to hold the belt & pump tight. Trying to pry on the pump in most other ways can damage the reservoir. Good luck.
