Tire options? And sizes?

Hey my el camino needs new tires and I was wondering what the best tire to get would be. Not necessarily performance but tread life? I have the hankook v12s on there right now and I have no complaints with them just seeing if there is a better option of tire that will last a little but longer? I have 17x8 rims on the el camino I was wondering what the widest in the rear I could go as well?

Not sure what size it would cross reference to in a 17" , but a 15 by 8 or 9" wheel with 4.5" backspacing with a 275/60 /15 is about the limit for rear.This is with BFG tires, which have more buldge for their size.
