How big can i go with the back tires on my 85 monte ss? 275-50-15

thats what ive heard yes, the 275 would be the widest, 50 or 60.

but my 255's come damn close and i wouldn't want to push it much closer personnaly

Depends on rim width.

On a 7" rim, I have 255/60's, and they fit great, with plenty of room.

On a 8.5" rim, I test fit some 275/60's, and it was very close on the driver side, not as bad on the pass side. Never drove it like that though, didn't have the right lug nuts.

There's a certain degree of slop in these cars, so what fits on one car, may rub on another...
