I'm planning on running 275/40/18's on my car, they are the same diameter as the 275/60/15's on my car now so this means they should fit correct?

you may also want to consider wheel backspacing/offset. Usually, larger wheels like that have alot of backspacing, you're wheel will sit inset, and rub the rear frame rails.
what wheels are you using for front?

I'll be running the 18x9.5 boss 338. Rears, 5 inch back spacing which I have been told will fit but may need a spacer and extended wheel lugs but it's alright. So the tires should fit okay?

yeah, tires should work if you get the right back spacing...
these cars start cause issues past 4.5" backspacing. So you may need a 3/8" or 1/2" spacer, and run some extended studs.

... carefull with extended studs. I dunno how long ordinary ones are, but you use a 2-7/8" long ones, you will need to use open-ended lugnuts. Or, you can cut the studs, which usually is bad news for messing up the thread.
