According to the owner's manual of my 85, GM does not recommend towing with it. That being said, the weakest link is the rear axle if towing something big, and a small trailer of around 2,000 lbs would probably be safe in my estimation. I once towed a car with mine using a dolly back when it had the V6 in it. It was not happy, and the braking distance could be measured in miles, but it did do it.
I have thought about towing another gbody on a dolly that has its own power brakes. Anything with 3 series gear would be ok but if you have taller the 200 or 200-4r would not like it for long distance even if you never put it in overdrive. They would need a good size tranmission cooler and still have weak parts for towing. A small trailer of 2,000 lbs or less for a short distance should be ok just use common sense and allow room to stop.
