Connecting up the '89 MAF 305 tpi in my 86 regal, I was wondering which throttle cable people have used? I don't want something that is really long that will stand out. what have you guys used, post pics if you have any. THANKS!

I got an lt1 Cutlass and i got a cable from an impala with an lt1... any of the cars that came with TPI or LT1 will have cables long enough. Its not too long. check cardomain.com... and look up wrightlimousine. I've got a picture of that cable i believe on the second page.

When I bought my TPI setup it included an f-body throttle cable. I never used it (and have no idea if I even still have it ...) but I wasn't sure if it would work.

I bought a Lokar cable that works really nicely. Very smooth operation and easy installation. I did have to modify 2 washers that are on either side of the firewall by slotting them so they can slip in rather than feed the entire cable thru them. Here's pic of what I used. I don't have pics of my setup but these are the same.

The plenum bracket is available with 1, 2, or 3 holes depending on if you have throttle only, throttle and kick-down, or throttle, kick-down, and cruise control.

The cable in the Summit kit is differant than mine. Pic is a representation only. Mine has the black plastic cup that fits the g-body gas pedal exactly. The rest of the pic is the same as mine. I believe mine was also the 24" cable.

Not really cheap and kinda flashy but it works really good. Here's links to the parts thru Summit.

I'm currently getting ready to drop my TPI engine into my 86 Cutlass (from my old 84 Cutlass) and I'll be re-using my Lokar cable. You bolt the bracket to the TPI plenum. Screw the housing into the bracket and the firewall ends mounts by sliding the housing into the stock cable hole. (I *think* I may have had to drill this hole round but can't remember off-hand) A nut retains the firewall end with the 2 slotted washers. The cable then slides into the housing and is a direct fit on the g-body pedal. Trim the cable to lendth and install the end with the supplied end via 2 small allen screws. Slide this over the stud on the throttle body and install the E-clip. Done! Yes, it's really that easy ...

Or, you can try to adapt a 20+ year old factory type cable ...

Mine also came with an F-body cable and I did end up using it. Unfortunately, it's too long and required enlarging the hole in the firewall but it works. Word is that there's an S-10 cable out there that fits better but I have no details on which one.

It really needs the billet plate that bolts on the plenum. You may be able to fab up something though if you have the stock bracket.

It was several years ago when I initially did my swap but now that I think of it, I didn't have the stock bracket. That may have been why I went with the Lokar cable. Regardless, I'm glad I did.
