currently have a 200r4 trans in my 86 cutlass salon with a 305. wanting to put in a 350 with a turbo 350 trans will i have to
get my drive shaft cut?

Depends on the length of the tail shaft cone on the 350. If it's a 6" cone you will actually need a longer shaft. A 350 is 21 5/8" from front to back with either 6,9,12" cone. A 2004r is 28 1/4 total. You will need a 350 trans crossmember for sure.

If you use a short shaft(6" extension housing) turbo 350 trans you WILL NOT have to shorten the drive shaft. The overall length of both the transmissions in question are close enough you current drive shaft will work. You will have to move your crossmember forward to line up with the turbo 350 transmission mount.

No, The 200 4R and the short shaft TH350 use the same drive shaft. The longer tail housing came with Truck`s and pre 76 full size B-body Impala`s. Not sure what year they stop putting 9inch tail shafts Th350`s in full size car`s.
