Iam wondering if any one has install those Actuators in a hood or trunk. i recently build my subwoffer box and wanted to use the ledge by the rear seat. so in order for the box to fit really snug. i have to remove the 2 bars that help hold up the trunk. so with that being said
I would like to install a Actuator or acutuators... cause i would hate to carry around some kind of prop to hold up the trunk when at local car shows or just showing off the trunk.
if anyone has use these or has install them cn u give me some pointers. how many i need best spot. any ideas will help thanks

I have them on mine, ill snap some pics of them tomorrow. They are very slow on my Malibu due to the weight of the trunk lid. I think if maybe combined with some gas struts it would be faster. If and when I decide to re do mine I am going to try and add struts to the mix.

struts??? yea please upload pictures... iam doing everything out of scratch. I bought a used WARNER ACTUATOR from a guy who had it in his boat. its pretty big. kinda overkill for my trunk. but i got a good deal on it 60 bucks and its a year old. i didnt know if they sell brackets so when i did a lil research i found one from AUTOLOC... but it looked so dingy and cheap. so iam making mines from scratch. but tryn to kinda copy the design of the one from AUTOLOC. took pictures today at work when i milled the bracket. gonna either nickel plate it. or just rattle can paint it.
I also took the actuator apart so that i can clean the internals and use some new grease.

i wouldve just done struts. Usually, used worn out struts off a 3rd or 4th gen fbody, hold up a normal trunk just fine, unless the strut has completely failed or blown out
