Sounds way low on fluid. Did you fill the converter before installing it??

Check the dipstick with the engine running, in drive (parking brake set & wheels blocked)

Trans with converter will take about 2.5 gallons.

Make *sure* you have vacuum down at the transmission. Put a tee just over the modulator and run a line to a gauge in the car. If you don't have a gauge, you can use your finger to test; it should hold the line to your finger when you're at part throttle, then loosen or come loose under acceleration.

Theoretically nothing should get into the modulator line, but sometimes they build up crud that will stop them up, or the steel line will get crimped over, or the rubber one will crack and leak vacuum.

Pull vacuum directly off the manifold, not from a carburetor fitting; some carbs have "ported vacuum" that varies by throttle setting, and attaching to one of those will confuse the transmission.

Lack of vacuum at the modulator will make a stock T350 act like it's low on transmission fluid.

Well, actually, lack of vacuum at the modulator makes the trans think that the engine is at wide open throttle, so upshifts are delayed until 4000 RPM or so. The trans will ultimately upshift, but it will be hard and at high RPM. Also, the modulator is not connected to reverse at all, so there appears to be another problem.

trans

a thm350 uses the same clutch pack for low and reverse so i would start looking at the linkage and then the valve body... who built you trans ? check with them...jesse
