Hey peeps, I have been a gbody guy since I bought my first '79 with the factory 4spd trans in '88. Crushed that one, regretted it, and found another. The body is shot but the drivetrain is solid. My second son turned 18 last week and made the deal "if you fix it you can have it" with me for my '79. It was originally a 6 cylinder with a 3 spd Sa. It is now a 350 with a 4spd Sag and i want him to do the right things to make this car a winner for him. FIRst and foremost I would like to score a sweet body, 79-81 prefferably. The 12" clutch is a bit harsh for daily driving so we are trying to find out what will make a hydraulic set up based on boneyard parts.

My pops sold me his 79 GP which started the GP "obsession" for me... Sounds like your kid has a good start!

Pontiac or SBC 350? Check out the Pontiac section too, a few of us have some 78-80 builds taking place. A few guys like Pontiacgp and Bonnewagon know their sh*t with the manual trans set-up. I believe Pontiacgp has a hydraulic set-up in his car.
