Is a tv cable being connected to the trans but not to the intake manifold critical. i never had mine hooked up to my intake because i didnt know where it went. The place I thought it went it didnt fit. I was watching "2 Guys Garage" on Speed channel and they said that by hooking up that tv cable you can adjust your shifts as far as smoothness ad crisper shifts. Is this correct?

yes it is, but it has to be adjusted correctly. how thats done, well imma have to learn myself. from what i know if its hooked up right when you floor the go pedal, itll downshift the trans for you.

There should be a bracket on the intake with a square hole in it. The cable locks into that. The end clips on to the throttle on the carb, usually onto a little round disc-like stud below where the throttle cable goes. On the adjuster, which is right on the part that locked into the mounting bracket, is a tab that unlocks when you push it to allow you to take all the slack out of the cable at closed throttle position. Then you push the tab in and lock it. Lastly, you push down on the gas pedal or manually open throttle valve to it's full open position and the cable automatically adjusts and holds that setting. The trans should now shift perfectly.

pics would be great!

All my cars are manual transmissions.

Bottom cable on the bracket attached to the carb you see in the pic below.

I got the bracket from Holley, it did not come with the carb.

Beautifull pic Brick442. That uses a ball stud on the linkage, right? Rochesters use the disc type. Did the your carb come with several types,or are they available?

Thanks Bonnewagon . . . It's the ball-stud type. Had to be purchased separately--it didn't come with the carb. Was only like a buck or two.

NO!!!
you simply adjust the TV cable correctly and leave it alone. 200-4r transmissions have a bad rep because people thought that you could "tune" the trans with it. instead, you blow the trans. to adjust the trans performance you have to use a shift kit or mod the governor.
