the nice, pre drilled, factory bolt holes for the radio and heater control plate snapped like a twig, or brittle 35 year old plastic today. not really sure what the hell to do now. anyone else have this problem and got some super awesome looking setup to hide it? :blam:

Can you post a photo of the damage? I recall that the plastic structure under the foam does not take glues very well. Might be able to overlay some aluminum sheet. Picture will help me offer suggestions.

Do you want something like this or more towards the oem look. Its just a piece of balsa wood squeeze into its spot. Don't remember if it is screwed in.

I have the same problem with the centre vent, one of the mounting tabs in the dash is broken, I was going to make a piece out of cardboard then make a mold and fiberglass a new tab then glass it to the original stub

Been there done that.

I had a problem with my mounting point for the center vent dash trim. The plastic had broken loose and the only thing holding it together was a thin layer of vinyl. I took another dash surround I had laying around that had cosmetic issues but otherwise was solid. I cut the plastic tabs out of it and then using a two part epoxy putty made by Loctite I glued everything back together.

Worked perfect and the great thing about the two part epoxy is that once it's hard you can sand and file it if you need to.

I will try and post a picture tomorrow. It honestly doesnt help that my dash is about shot lol. i like the two part epoxy idea a lot though, almost wonder if i can fake some repairs to the vinyl in that area with it now.
